Al-Waha Al-Hamra Hotel is a very beautiful achievement of the new Sudanese style. It was built with bricks or mud bricks, and the walking spaces inside were decorated with fully carved Berber geometric patterns, bearing witness to the skills of our ancestors in the “Gourara” area. The building was built between 1912 and 1917 under the supervision of an officer French architecture “Francois Attenor” to meet the needs of military supplies
On July 11, 1925, the General Company “Transatlantic” owned the building under an unlimited lease, and made it one of its most famous hotels in the desert, so it was the “Transatlantic Timimoun” hotel
The opening ceremony of the institution coincided with the celebration of the New Year 1926, in the presence of prominent personalities at that stage, including “Andre Stroman” and “Grand Duchess of Luxembourg”. After 1965, its name was changed to the Red Oasis Hotel until its closure in 1996
And since 2014, this building has become the ideal facade of the Algerian Center for Heritage Built with Mud, an institution that aims to promote mud buildings for the purpose of preserving them
